Unitec fruit sorting
EQM signed a sales agreement with an Italian firm; UNITEC group, in 2017. UNITEC is well known for leading the world in cherry sorting and packing lines and equipment. They built their first fruit sorting machine in 1924 and have had one sole objective – to help customers grow their businesses by improving the quality of their work. UNITEC has developed technologies for more than 30 fruit and vegetables. These span from ‘A-Z’, apples and avocados to radishes to watermelons. The company is well known within the cherry, blueberry, and kiwifruit sectors throughout Europe, North & South America, and Africa. UNITEC exports 95% of its production and is expanding into the Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, they have had several new installations in Australia and NZ in the last few years. UNITEC is world renowned for its Cherry Vision defect sorting equipment. This automation has enabled the reallocation of the majority of the labour employed to do hand sorting, to other parts of the facility.
