The Challenge
L’Oréal NZ needed an efficient online order packing system capable of handling multiple operators at once. The goal was to create four dedicated packing stations, each with enough room for packaging and wrapping machines, all feeding into one central conveyor. The system also required additional overhead storage for cartons, ergonomic design for staff, and seamless flow through to dispatch.
EQM’s Process and Solution
EQM designed a custom-built order packing line using modular Easy EBS80 belt conveyor technology. This conveyor provided the backbone for the system, with four evenly spaced packing benches constructed from Slotpro aluminium framing and laminated tops.
To maximise efficiency and reduce unnecessary movement, EQM integrated overhead racks above the workstations, ensuring packers had quick access to flat-packed cartons. At the end of the line, a RollPro gravity roller conveyor was added to accumulate completed cartons for dispatch.
The system was driven by reliable STM shaft-mounted gear drives with a Teco variable speed controller, allowing speeds to be optimised for different workloads.
