A fact that you may not be aware of, is that New Zealand produces around 21 billion litres of milk every year! That’s 3% of the world’s milk production or put more simply… that is 3 serves of dairy per day for 78 million people!
Here at EQM, we can provide products that can automate and reduce the strain of manual labour otherwise required and therefore enhance the working environment, and one such example is by automating dairy shed backing gates.
Not heard of a backing gate before? Let us explain. A backing gate is utilised in a milking yard to help improve the flow of the cows through the yard and into the milking parlour.
Automated gates are common in modern dairy operations as they reduce the need for extra manpower, whilst improving the efficiency of flow. There are several New Zealand made designs for automated hi-flow gates, to control cows in both rectangular and circular holding yards. They are used as a flow mechanism to encourage rather than push the cows around. The many designs all have one thing in common, a worm reduction gear drive.
EQM supplied STM gear drives are found on many designs and are interchangeable with many other brands. These gearboxes enable the smooth closing function of these gates as the cows move into the milking shed freeing up the hands of the milking staff to be focusing on where they are needed in the operations.
To all manufacturers of Dairy Shed Backing gates, we have a comprehensive listing of all styles of backing gates, including their gearboxes.
